Job Description:

Truist Securities’ Analyst Program begins with up to seven weeks of classroom instruction that consists of an introduction to capital markets, products and services, accounting, corporate finance, systems and financial modeling training designed to give Analysts all the tools they will need to be successful. After the classroom training, Analysts join a Capital Markets product group and play a meaningful role in supporting senior investment banking professionals.

The Capital Markets Origination Analyst program provides the opportunity to gain exposure to a number of disciplines within investment banking and capital markets. Analysts will sharpen financial analysis skills, develop an understanding of corporate markets and clients, and gain experience in corporate finance and with investment banking products through on-the-job training. Within each group, Analysts play a meaningful role in supporting internal and external clients.

Assignments will be within one of our capital markets origination groups listed below, with the opportunity to interact with other groups and disciplines throughout the investment bank.

Equity Capital Markets:

The Equity Capital Markets team at Truist Securities originates, structures, and executes equity capital raising transactions, including: IPOs, follow-ons, equity-linked products, share repurchases, and at-the-market offerings. ECM professionals assist in capital raising in the public and private markets for acquisitions, strategic financing, and the strengthening of balance sheets. Analysts help senior bankers in the origination and execution across a range of situations. ECM analysts gain experience in assessing the strength of the equity issuance markets, investor targeting and outreach, supporting live deals, and developing client pitch materials.

Financial Risk Management:​

The Financial Risk Management (FRM) team at Truist Securities is a product oriented team that focuses on foreign exchange, interest rate, and commodity derivatives. The team sits on the private side of the trading floor and interacts daily with bankers, traders, clients, and capital raising partners. The client set covered spans the full spectrum, from small cap to middle market regional clients, as well as from Not-For-Profits to the large cap Fortune 500. FRM analysts assist senior marketers by creating presentation materials, pricing hedge transactions, executing client trades, and providing commentary on current market conditions.

Investment Grade Debt Capital Markets:

An IG DCM analyst supports senior bankers in the origination and execution of bond and bank market financings for investment grade corporations and financial institutions. The analyst develops financial models, relative value analyses, presentation materials and new issue pricing indications for current and prospective clients. Immediately upon joining the team, an IG analyst works closely with bankers and product partners throughout Truist over the entire transaction lifecycle.

Public Finance:

A Public Finance analyst supports senior bankers in the research, origination and execution of bond and bank market financings for municipal, Corporate Tax-exempt and non-profit issuers of tax exempt and taxable debt. The analyst develops research, financial models, relative value analyses, presentation materials and new issue pricing indications for current and prospective clients. Immediately upon joining the team, a Public Finance analyst works closely with bankers and product partners throughout Truist over the entire transaction lifecycle.

Leveraged Loan / High Yield Syndicate:

A Leveraged Loan / High Yield Syndicate Analyst supports the High Yield and Leveraged Loan Syndicate desk in the structuring and execution of transactions including leveraged buyouts, dividend recapitalizations, acquisition financings, and refinancings. An analyst will have numerous responsibilities, ranging from keeping up to date with current market trends and deals on a daily basis and providing market slides for pitches and deal presentation, tracking investor feedback on various deals and ensuring the appropriate approvals are in place for all Truist transactions and interacting with senior members of Syndicated and Leveraged finance among other product groups. An Analyst must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, SyndTrak, and Bloomberg. Upon joining the Team, the analyst oversees the entire transaction process from winning the mandate to closing by supporting the Syndicate, Sales, and Trading desks.

The Capital Markets Analyst position is typically a two-year position. At the end of the two-year period, Analysts may be asked to remain in the role for an additional year.


Truist Securities is headquartered in Atlanta, GA, with offices throughout the U.S. in cities including Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Memphis, Miami, Nashville, Orlando, New York, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.

The majority of Capital Markets Analysts are placed in Atlanta, GA.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completed BA/BS degree with a scheduled graduation of December 2021 or May 2022

  • Overall GPA of 3.0

  • Proven analytical ability and attention to detail

  • Solid leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Superior written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team oriented environment

Preferred Requirements:

  • Business major

  • Strong interest in finance and investment banking

  • Prior completion of Accounting or Finance coursework

  • High degree of academic and extracurricular achievement

  • Willingness to commit substantial time and energy to the program
