Summer Analyst Program Overview:

The Truist Securities CIB Summer Analyst Program will run for approximately 10 weeks in the summer months. The Summer Analyst Program will consist of:

  • Activities: Networking socials, case studies and presentations, team-building projects

  • Executive Speaker Series: CEO, Truist Securities Senior Leaders, among others

  • Community Service: Opportunities to participate in various volunteer initiatives are provided and involvement is strongly encouraged

  • The opportunity to interact with other groups and disciplines throughout the investment bank.

Competitive Summer Analysts will be eligible to receive an offer to returnin full time positions as part of our Analyst program upon graduation.

Job Description:

Placements will be within one of our Asset Finance groups: Asset Based Lending, Asset Securitization, Project Finance, Structured Real Estate. Our Asset Finance Group delivers a wide range of financing solutions. We combine market-leading structuring expertise with detailed industry insights and broad distribution capabilities to design a customized strategy that best meets our client’s needs. Summer Analysts will work closely with senior Asset Finance professionals to help drive the growth of the business.

Asset Based Lending:

Asset Based Lending is recommended for Analysts with an interest in commercial and corporate lending supported by a company’s working capital and fixed assets. As an Analyst, you would contribute to the Origination function of the group while also gaining exposure to the structuring, execution, and syndication of loans as they are taken to market. Analysts will work with senior professionals in developing models, internal screening materials, and external pitch materials which provide analysis of our clients’ credit and collateral performance. Analysts should have strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Asset Securitization:

The Asset Securitization Group provides highly structured debt capital solutions to growing companies across a variety of industries. The transactions ASG executes involve: (1) arranging asset-backed revolving loans for our clients funded directly by Truist and other bank partners; and (2) helping the Bank’s clients issue bonds known as “asset-backed securities” to institutional investors. Analysts in ASG learn the basic principles of structuring these transactions and work directly with senior bankers on each phase of the engagement life cycle including pitching to new clients, closing live deals and managing existing client relationships. These engagements will involve a variety of day-to-day work functions such as using Excel to model cash flows and organize complex data sets into actionable material, compiling information on the asset-backed securities market from Bloomberg and other sources to create client-facing presentations, attending meetings and calls with clients, investors, and other banks, reviewing complex legal documentation to ensure it accurately reflects the terms of each transaction and appropriately protects investors, analyzing company financial statements to project future performance and assess default risk, and producing credit memorandums to present prospective deals to senior members of Truist’s risk organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), understand basic principles of financial statement analysis, possess solid written and oral communication skills, and be unflinchingly willing to learn.

Project Finance:

Project Finance Group Analysts work closely with Project Finance Origination and Structuring teams to assist with the origination, structuring and execution of Project Finance lease, partnership and loan transactions. Summer Analysts will work with functional partners in Credit Risk, Asset Management, Portfolio Management and Operations to process transactions and manage client experience. Summer Analysts will work closely with senior professionals to complete client pitch materials, proposals, term sheets, and transaction screening materials. Summer Analysts will also complete pricing runs, modeling, return analysis and comparable transaction/relative value analysis.

Structured Real Estate:

The Structured Real Estate (SRE) group is a premier full-service real estate investment platform that provides unique capital to support client financing objectives and broader real estate strategies. Analysts will support the origination and structuring/execution teams, playing a meaningful role in corporate finance analysis, new business development, due diligence, structuring and execution. Analysts will work with senior professionals to identify and evaluate opportunities, create pitch books, develop models, create internal screening materials, evaluate equity investments in real estate, and draft offering memoranda.

Truist Securities is headquartered in Atlanta, GA, with offices throughout the U.S. in cities including New York, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Memphis, Miami, Nashville, Orlando, Boston, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.

The majority of Summer Analysts will be placed at the company headquarters in Atlanta, GA.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completed junior year of a BA/BS degree with a scheduled graduation of December 2022 or May 2023

  • Overall GPA of 3.0

  • Proven analytical ability and attention to detail

  • Solid leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Superior written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team oriented environment

Preferred Requirements:

  • Business major

  • Prior completion of Accounting or Finance coursework

  • High degree of academic and extracurricular achievement

  • Willingness to commit substantial time and energy to the program
