Please review the following job description:

Underwrites credit exposure for less complex credit relationships and circumstances and actively manages a Middle Market, CRE or CML portfolio. Includes day-to-day client interaction, managing portfolio risk and adheres to all regulatory and compliance guidelines. A critical component of this role is early identification of emerging credit problems and industry trends.

JOB LOCATION: Anywhere within footprint (PA, MD, VA, NC, SC, GA, FL, WV, TN, AL, TX, DC).

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesFollowing is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. Client First

  • Promote line of business loan and revenue growth and return objectives through recommendations of appropriate solutions to meet each client’s needs and effective and consistent underwriting of opportunities, inclusive of your independent recommendation to the entire deal team and evaluation of expected return.

  • Lead internal and external strategic credit conversations with all stakeholders in pursuit of appropriate client and prospect credit strategies that will add value for the client and achieve risk-reward balance and profitable growth for the Bank.

  • Establish effective ongoing leadership in client rapport building and strategic dialogue that deepen understanding of client’s credit profile and solutions to meet each client’s unique needs while achieving appropriate risk-reward balance and profitable growth for the bank

  • Ensure timely credit strategy discussions by leading accurate screens, underwriting and risk assessment for new credit opportunities and renewals, and document in detail as required

  • Effectively prioritize risk assessment and underwriting of new business opportunities and effectively manage portfolio responsibilities with a 90 day forward looking view and Client First orientation

  • Own and drive the credit process with diligent focus on meeting or exceeding client expectations and operational excellence objectives with the ability to negotiate and present term sheets to client

  • Proactively participate in Client Planning process to identify credit opportunities and solutions to benefit clients and prospects

  • Achieve acceptable Client Survey resultsOne Team

  • Partner with regions in achieving revenue production and growth objectives

  • Provide thought leadership during the opportunity evaluation process to uncover opportunities to consultatively meet client credit and non-credit needs.

  • Partner effectively with deal team on client calls by providing strategic forward thinking solutions and participating in pre and post-call discussions

  • Partner effectively with Deal Team on client calls by leading credit related conversations and providing strategic forward thinking solutions with leadership in pre and post-call discussions. Provide thought leadership to Credit Officer, RM, and Analyst during the opportunity evaluation process.

  • Communicate clearly and concisely to drive efficiency in the credit process

  • Independently run the most complex deals from a deal team approval perspective through closing with minimal Credit Officer turns of the credit package while identifying all key risks of the credit.

  • Understand and articulate industry trends and patterns in the economy, and the implications thereof, and proactively share this information across the organization.

  • Have a thorough working knowledge and understanding of commercial credit policies and procedures

  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with credit partners through honest, up-front communication and due diligence on credit packages

  • Provide diplomatic leadership to generate productive discussions of credit opportunities that fall within the bank’s credit risk appetite. Proactively engage partners as needed to ensure timely and accurate underwriting and risk assessment for new credit opportunities and renewals, and document in detail as required. Demonstrate ownership of loan structuring, documentation and analysis. Understand and articulate industry trends and patterns in the economy

  • Manage through all activities related to COVID 19; requests for relief loans, renewals, deferrals, and transition to Special Assets

  • Own the risk associated with each Client Relationship in assigned portfolio. Be anticipatory, forward focused, independent, transparent and collaborative in identification, communication, and all aspects of management of risk during the underwriting process. Credit packages are to be complete, accurate, transparent and thoroughly documented to include identification and mitigation of policy exceptions, data integrity and risk ratings

  • Achieve satisfactory results as defined by Credit Risk Review (CRR), Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) findings

  • Executes on timely collection of current and adequate financial information, consistent with Loan Agreement requirements in order to facilitate accurate and timely completion of Covenant Compliance within the portfolio. This includes checklist completion, default approval (if necessary), client default notification, and documentation in the proper file of record

  • Ensures accurate, well documented and timely completion of Annual Risk Rating Assessments, incorporating the appropriate risk rating scorecard

  • Diligently manage portfolio responsibilities by maintaining consistent and accurate usage of critical portfolio management systems for assigned portfolio. Performance must adhere to established thresholds

  • Provide timely response and risk rating adjustments upon realization of deteriorating trends or knowledge of adverse financial conditions to effect timely transfers to special asset teams to minimize losses in the event of defaultLeadership & Change Management

Must have strong attention to detail.Ability to prioritize workflow and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications:Has successfully held similar role with commercial financial institution or like experience. Industry or sub-sector expertise. Mastery of Truist Bank operating systems inclusive of AFS and other Commercial applications (i.e. Moody's Credit Lens,, nCino)Knowledge of Senior Care Finance including lending to CCRCs; skilled nursing; and/or IL/AL/MC sectors
