Please review the following job description:

Responsible for supporting NMTC Relationship Managers in originating, structuring, and closing NMTC transactions throughout the Truist footprint. Also responsible for supporting various Truist clients by delivering customized NMTC solutions. Also responsible for growing the business, educating internal and external stakeholders, and working with our various business partners to deliver Truist's Purpose, Mission and Values.


Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  1. Develop relationships with Community Development Entities, consultants, and community leaders to support NMTC Relationship Managers throughout the footprint.

  2. Identify opportunities, prioritize deals, assist in deal structuring and underwriting, and facilitate deal closings.

  3. Negotiate complex legal documents memorializing business deal terms.

  4. Discuss nuances of transaction with portfolio managers, deposit specialists, loan closers, Corporate Tax, Controllers, and legal during the closings, and serve as a resource on an ongoing basis. Prepare and deliver presentations to senior line of business management and senior credit risk management for new credit opportunities, portfolio management, and market overviews.

  5. Manage portfolio of NMTC closings to provide professional client services throughout the compliance period and negotiate exit.

  6. Assist NMTC Team with crafting a comprehensive New Markets Tax Credit Allocation Application annually.

  7. Work with various Truist operational groups to continually improve systems’ capabilities in order to create more flexibility and functionality for our NMTC platform

  8. Employ astute risk management by maintaining satisfactory credit risk standards, risk review assessments, audit results, and compliance results..

  9. Represent Truist effectively through external engagement via industry association participation and other public events such as ribbon cutting events, speaking on panels, and interacting with various influential community members.

  10. Stay informed on industry developments, trends and competitive data functioning as industry expert for the corporation.


Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or related field, and specific knowledge/experience with supporting educational background, or equivalent education and related training.

  2. Minimum twelve (12), preferred fifteen (15) years of businessdevelopment/relationshipmanagement experience. Direct experience with tax credit finance preferred.

  3. Strong analytical problem-solving skills; formal credit training preferred.

  4. Effective interpersonal communication, marketing, and sales skills.

  5. Proven negotiating ability.

  6. Strong business acumen (i.e. critical thinking and decision making).

  7. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.
