Provide leadership responsibility for vendor management within the assigned business unit. Serve as the primary focal point for assigned vendor relationships within the business unit. Serve as a liaison between internal business unit functions and external supporting organizations to ensure BB&T is meeting its business objectives, as described in our approved initiatives. Serve as the subject matter expert to manage the relationship within the business unit and vendor to improve risk, cost, quality, and ease of doing business across the business unit. Liaise with Enterprise Vendor Management to ensure all vendors’ are in compliance with Enterprise Vendor Management Standards and Policies.

Job Description Summary Provide leadership responsibility for vendor management within the assigned business unit. Serve as the primary focal point for assigned vendor relationships within the business unit. Serve as a liaison between internal business unit functions and external supporting organizations to ensure BB&T is meeting its business objectives, as described in our approved initiatives. Serve as the subject matter expert to manage the relationship within the business unit and vendor to improve risk, cost, quality, and ease of doing business across the business unit. Liaise with Enterprise Vendor Management to ensure all vendors are in compliance with Enterprise Vendor Management Standards and Policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Identify and manage vendor risks per the Enterprise Vendor Management policy and guidelines.
  • Create, streamline and document business unit specific processes, compliance reports and standard operating procedures, as required, to support the Corporate Vendor Management Program.
  • Implement vendor performance management framework (e.g. scorecards, improvement plans).
  • Perform ongoing vendor monitoring such as call monitoring, review of Vendor Service Organization Control (SOC) reports (formerly Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) 16) and Service Levels Tracking/remediation.
  • Work with the second line of defense (e.g. Operational Risk Management (ORM), Compliance) to ensure corresponding risks are being managed and mitigated per second line expectations.
  • Coordinate vendor risk reviews across second line of defense, IT Risk Management functions.
  • Develop and effectively execute on vendor contingency and termination/transition plans.
  • Lead and participate in Vendor Business Continuity planning and testing.
  • Serve as vendor escalation point for vendor issues and risks.
  • Participate in vendor onsite inspections.
  • Communicate overall relationship health and vendor performance to Business Unit Manager and Senior Leadership.
  • Facilitate sourcing and contract requests to Enterprise Spend Management (ESM) on behalf of business unit.
  • Initiate and manage contract renewal and execution activities.
  • Assist with negotiations and decision making on contracts, Master Agreements, and/or Statements of Work.
  • Coordinate financial and business approval activities including business case development, tracking and governance.
  • Ensure contract compliance for documented terms and conditions.
  • Identify and implement cost optimization opportunities.
  • Operate and deliver results in a highly matrixed, integrated team environment. * Lead the cross functional 3rd Party Risk Working Group program

* Drive risk remediation and process optimization across the 3rd party Technology Risk domain

* Work with Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) on program design enhancements and requirements

* Work with key Enterprise Technology stakeholders to identify 3rd party risk/process improvements and help implement proper remediations

* Work with 2nd line Tech Risk on domain risks and issues Required Skills and Competencies: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Management and Logistics, or equivalent education and related training
  • Seven years of experience in business functions or relevant experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, materials management or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of business processes and how the vendor relationship fits it
  • Strong analytical skills (statistics and forecast modeling)
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; experience communicating frequently with executive management
  • Negotiation and consulting experience
  • Procurement and vendor management experience
  • 8+ years of experience in supplier risk management activities
  • Strong skills and experience in resolution, influencing team members and stakeholders, and conducting difficult negotiations
  • Goal-oriented, action-focused, executive level interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in a matrix environment
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently towards goals in a complex, diverse environment with multiple and challenging demands
  • Understanding and commitment to continuous process improvement and project management
  • Broad knowledge of supplier risk management best practices and regulatory expectations for financial institutions
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products
  • Ability to travel, occasionally overnight Desired Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance or Accounting
