The Data Governance Consultant is responsible for supporting Data Governance across the enterprise, enabling business growth while ensuring compliance with risk and regulatory expectations. The position partners with various business and technology stakeholders to influence and drive adoption of related Enterprise Data Management strategies, policies, standards and control frameworks. The role evaluates established and emerging data practices and technologies to drive the team's direction, while implementing innovative processes and solutions to provide competitive advantage while meeting rigorous control and oversight mandates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop and maintain policies, standards, supporting documentation and technology in support of enterprise Data Governance, including data retention. Create and implement processes and procedures to support data standards and control frameworks.

  2. Provide subject matter expertise in the planning and execution of data management activities such as data sourcing, metadata management, data quality, data privacy, regulatory, legal or procedural requirements related to records management.

  3. Drive solution design and execution of multi-pronged data governance efforts that span across platforms and business/technology areas to address enterprise data needs.

  4. Implement strategic data governance capabilities by working with business and technology partners (internal and external) to document requirements and create action plans.

  5. Perform oversight and inspection of critical data management practices for adherence to established data policies and control frameworks.

  6. Identify data issues and work with technology, risk and business partners to triage, track, communicate, mitigate and remediate the issues to closure.

  7. Support the production of metrics and measures to track progress and adherence, escalating as needed to various committees for visibility and program accountability.

  8. Understand and integrate relevant regulations and industry trends into work plans, exploring emerging frameworks and assessing feasibility using proof of concepts.

  9. Collaborate closely with peer teams to ensure coordination, synergy and seamless overall execution.

  10. Champion and drive improvement in enterprise data management practices throughout the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in related field, eight years of experience in roles with increasing responsibilities in technology, data management, governance, risk or related practice or equivalent education and related training or experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master of Business Administration (MBA) or other graduate or advanced-level certification

  2. Experience with physical and electronic record retention

  3. Ability to take regulatory requirements and translate those into business requirements.

  4. Large program strategic planning/execution across multiple functions

  5. Third party vendor management experience

  6. History of effective performance within shared service, matrix or federated environments

  7. Internal or external consulting experience

  8. Experience with formalized organizational assessment practices (e.g. Capability Maturity Model), including implementation of recommended improvements

  9. Knowledge of data tools and platforms used for managing, storing, querying, testing, loading and transforming data (e.g. SAS, Informatica, Oracle, Teradata) or relevant data certifications (e.g. CIPP, CIPM)
