The QA Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating the quality assurance activities throughout the software development lifecycle ensuring that the software meets the highest standards of quality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, develop and execute test strategies and drive continuous improvement in testing methodologies and processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  1. Create and maintain the overall test strategy, test plan, and test schedules for Truist Insurance Holdings's most complex solutions.

  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, project managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders. Communicate test progress, test results, and quality metrics to project stakeholders.

  3. Identify opportunities for test automation and work with the team to implement automated testing frameworks, tools, and scripts. Document test plans, test cases, test results, and other relevant artifacts. Ensure the availability of accurate and comprehensive documentation for future reference.

  4. Manage the defect tracking system, monitor, and prioritize defects, and ensure their timely resolution. Collaborate with developers and other stakeholders to understand and resolve issues.

  5. Lead a team of QA engineers, assign tasks, track progress, provide guidance and mentor less experienced teammates to build technical expertise.

  6. Create and execute test cases, test scripts, test scenarios and ensure proper test coverage for different features and functionalities of the solution. Document test plans, test cases, test results, and other relevant artifacts. Ensure the availability of accurate and comprehensive documentation for future reference.

  7. Establish and implement quality assurance processes and standards for the development team. Ensure adherence to company and industry standards throughout the development lifecycle.

  8. Identify areas for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the QA processes. Identify and evaluate risks associated with the development process and ensuring appropriate mitigation plans are in place.

  9. Does not have management responsibilities. This position serves as the technical expert on the team and is often the strongest engineer, answering and solving the most complex, unusual issues, but does not have the skills nor the interest in management. Therefore, in the technical industry and many companies, this position is often aligned at the same level as an entry level manager. This creates a career path for an individual contributor to remain as an individual contributor and does not have to seek a management role for promotion/pay.

  10. In an Agile environment: Act as an Agile champion. Responsible for delivering high quality working software and automating manual/reusable tasks working directly, and consulting with, the business from the beginning of the design work. Leverage continuous engineering practices to deliver business value regarding effectiveness of the design. Actively participate in refining user stories. Responsible for development and developing unit testing, and supporting integration and functional testing. Responsible for providing warranty support and providing knowledge transfer to production support. Develop code in accordance with the acceptance criteria established by the Product Owner.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree and eight to twelve years of experience as a developer or equivalent education and related training or experience

  2. Deep specialized and/or broad functional knowledge

  3. Sound understanding of business and organizational strategies and processes

  4. Ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices

  5. Ability to lead complex projects

  6. Sophisticated analytical skills and the ability to solve complex technical and business problems

  7. Ability to influence others at senior levels to adopt a new perspective

Preferred Qualifications: :

  1. Proficiency in a wide range of testing methodologies including performance, security and usability testing.

  2. Insurance or financial services experience

  3. Experience in testing AI driven applications and understanding of AI testing frameworks would be a plus.

4. Experience with Azure cloud platforms and services including Azure Devops.

5. Strong attention to detail and a meticulous approach to QA process.

6. Proven experience as a QA Lead or similar role in software development. Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes.

7. Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools. Proficient in automated testing frameworks and tools.

  1. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
