Join our application delivery team supporting McGriff, part of Truist Insurance Holdings, Inc., one of the top 10 largest insurance brokers in the world. Our team of software developers, data engineers and analysts are responsible for helping McGriff grow by building the next generation of insurance business tools in a modern application stack. We are building new applications in a Java, Spring and Angular stack on AWS.
Work in a leading role to build and deliver new applications enhancing our critical agency management systems. Deliver technically complex solutions. Perform system integration support for all project work. Consult and partner with the business product owners to understand the end goal and offer solutions and recommendations during the design.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in testing, implementation, maintenance, and escalated support of Truist's most complex solutions.
Development includes but is not limited to customized coding, software integration, analysis, configuring solutions, or use tools pertinent to the area, project, or system to configure or generate a solution.
Ensure adherence to company and industry standards. Provides technical consultation on extremely challenging or unusual situations.
Write and run unit tests.
Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results.
Interpret internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices.
Use sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions.8. Mentor less experienced teammates to build technical expertise.
Does not have management responsibilities. This position serves as the technical expert on the team and is often the strongest engineer, answering and solving the most complex, unusual issues, but does not have the skills nor the interest in management. Therefore, in the technical industry and many companies, this position is often aligned at the same level as an entry level manager. This creates a career path for an individual contributor to remain as an individual contributor and does not have to seek a management role for promotion/pay.
In an Agile environment: Act as an Agile champion. Responsible for delivering high quality working software and automating manual/reusable tasks working directly, and consulting with, the business from the beginning of the design work. Leverage continuous engineering practices to deliver business value regarding effectiveness of the design. Actively participate in refining user stories. Responsible for development and developing unit testing, and supporting integration and functional testing. Responsible for providing warranty support and providing knowledge transfer to production support. Develop code in accordance with the acceptance criteria established by the Product Owner.

Bachelor’s degree and eight to twelve years of experience as a developer or equivalent education and related training or experience
Deep specialized and/or broad functional knowledge

Sophisticated analytical skills and the ability to solve complex technical and business problems

1)Master’s degree and ten years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
2)Strong experience in one or more of the following areas (full-stack development on front-end, back-end and Cloud is a plus)
- Backend Development (Implementing REST / SOAP services / Micro Service APIs) using Java (8/9/11), Spring, Spring Boot Framework, Hibernate and RESTful web services
- Hosting application components on Cloud using Amazon Web Services (AWS) – leveraging EC2, S3, VPC, Elastic Beanstalk, Route53, Cloud Watch, Cloud Formation
3) Banking or financial services experience
4)Deep knowledge and experience with two or more of the following: Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design with strong analytical and debugging skills
5)Professional experience building apps or services from the ground up and scaling at an enterprise level
6)Experience with Open Source tools and frameworks
7)Strong understanding of SOA methodologies and service architectures 8)Experience using web servers, application containers, caching technologies 9)Solid knowledge of relational database design and development (SQL, stored procedures, data modeling)
10)Experience with messaging systems (i.e., MQ and JMS)
11)Experience with build tools, such as Git, Maven, and Jenkins
