The Vision for Truist’s Consumption and Analytics Platform (CAP) team within Enterprise Data Organization (EDO) is to drive consistency in data Consumption & build accelerators to drive efficiencies in Analytics Delivery. One of the primary workstream for EDO under the “Data Transformation Initiative” is to support "Modernize Data Access & Usage Work Efforts". It will establish the aggregation and distribution point for all required information (Data Marketplace), supporting batch and near-real time data availability and self-service capabilities.

The CAP team is looking for a Senior Data Engineer whose primary responsibility is to architect, design & develop Universal Data Market Place solutions that will be used to provision data across the enterprise in a consistent & secure manner thereby promoting data democratization and enforce data governance from a central location.

Additionally successful candidate will be responsible for building, optimizing and maintaining the data pipelines using Open Source technologies and aiding in building the data ecosystem for delivering enterprise data for wide consumption including developing data models, corresponding data architecture documents and API’s.

The ideal candidate is innovative and creative in his/her approach to finding out of the box solutions, adept at rapid prototyping and works well with ambiguity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Leads efforts related to architecture, design, development & operationalize the data provisioning platform & integrates the platform with big data applications & other enterprise data stores that houses technical &/or business meta data. Ensures operational metadata (logs, performance metrics, etc.) are available for diagnostics.

  2. Development includes but is not limited to customized coding, software integration, analysis, configuring solutions, or use tools pertinent to the area, project, or system to configure or generate a solution.

  3. Leads efforts related automating repeatable data preparation and integration tasks supporting the Data Marketplace ecosystem. Partner with technology teams to understand data capture, testing needs, and to build and test end-to-end solutions.

  4. Ensure adherence to company and industry standards. Provides technical consultation on extremely challenging or unusual situations and use sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions.

  5. Partners with engineers, data scientists, and the data office leadership to define and refine data architecture and technology choices.

  6. Leads larger, more complex data engineering projects and initiatives with significant risks and resource requirements.

  7. In an Agile environment: Act as an Agile champion. Responsible for delivering high quality working software and automating manual/reusable tasks working directly, and consulting with, the business from the beginning of the design work. Leverage continuous engineering practices to deliver business value regarding effectiveness of the design. Actively participate in refining user stories.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree and eight years of experience in systems engineering or administration or equivalent education and related training or experience

  2. Specialized knowledge of SQL, relational databases, ETL/ELT architecture and concepts, data integration concepts and big data concepts

3.Previous experience in planning and managing IT projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 7+ years' of experience as developer with at least 4 years working on Big Data

  2. Deep knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem and tools like Spark, Pyspark, Hive, Hbase, Oozie, Kafka

  3. Experience working with Microservices, Rest API and OAuth

  4. Familiarity with traditional ETL solutions like Informatica or Abinitio

  5. Familiarity with one or more BI Visualization tools like Tableau, Qlik or MicroStrategy

  6. Experience working with one or more Agile development methods

  7. Working knowledge of DevOps and CICD tools

  8. Familiarity with Metadata Management, Data Quality frameworks and Data as a Service concepts a big plus

  9. Banking or financial services experience
