Lead the Employee Benefits (EB) National Specialty Consulting Practices, including Retirement Actuarial, Healthcare Actuarial, Underwriting, Financial Analytics, ERISA Legal and EB Compliance, Communications, HR Advisory, Benefits Administration, and Clinical Wellness. Achieve objectives of revenue, optimized costs, and stable growth. Service and retain clients by providing high quality products within the required time frame. Establish and enforce the internal practices and procedures that enable the staff to achieve this end, update client deliverables to stay competitive and satisfy client expectations through understandable product that meets professional standards of practice, perform these activities at a profit for our sponsor, to assist with the growth of top line revenue, and to support the national resource center for the Employee Benefits division. Provide and coordinate consulting services for clients. Participate on the management team to provide corporate leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 1. Provide leadership for the Retirement Actuarial, Healthcare Actuarial, Underwriting, Financial Analytics, ERISA Legal and EB Compliance, Communications, Human Resources (HR) Advisory, Benefits Administration, and Clinical Wellness Practices. 2. Diversify and develop products and services to meet industry trends and emerging legislation. 3. Integrate resources to participate in the development of national consulting resource center. 4. Coordinate resources in multiple geographic locations, as necessary. 5. Manage the New Business Development process for assigned business units. 6. Implement systems and processes to support the delivery of services to clients. 7. Ensure systems, facilities, processes, and procedures are in place for associates to achieve performance goals. 8. Monitor revenue and expenses according to monthly and annual budget goals. 9. Forecast annual budget for performance metrics and strategic planning. 10. Participate in annual strategic planning process to establish business objectives and performance metrics. 11. Develop strategic relationships with critical clients and internal partners. 12. Ensure associates adhere to established procedures to satisfy quality control and risk management standards. 13. Work with Enterprise Risk Management to perform Business Recovery Continuity Planning and Risk Management reviews for assigned business processes. 14. Manage vendor relationships and monitor vendor performance. 15. Work with Human Systems and Human Systems Information Systems Department to hire, retain, and motivate associates. 16. Engage associates to achieve successful completion of projects by reviewing weekly production needs. 17. Encourage associates to identify improvements to department practices and procedures to continually improve. 18. Identify and implement training sessions for associate development. 19. Lead periodic practice and operations meetings and foster open communication with associates. 20. Evaluate client feedback to identify product development concepts 21. Always be pleasant in client contact. Keep the client satisfied and informed. 22. Maintain professional education. Must understand the current regulatory climate and the resulting impact on clients’ pension and benefit programs. 23. Make presentations to clients, prospects, internal partners and senior leadership team as necessary. 24. Be aware of other services provided by the organization. 25. Responsible for intradepartmental communication regarding policy, procedures and regulations, as it relates to actuarial work. Required Skills and Competencies: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance or equivalent education and related training. 2. Advanced degree such as Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Juris Doctorate (JD), CPA, or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) 3. Ten years of leadership experience in a Retirement or Benefits Consulting firm 4. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills 5. Possess excellent leadership skills 6. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office software products 7. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight Desired Skills: 1. Excellent knowledge of laws and regulations from IRS, DOL, PBGC, ERISA, and Healthcare Reform 2.
