Provide direction to and manage a group of underwriters. Underwrite specific loans and counsel underwriters on more difficult loans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 1. Lead and manage assigned underwriters to ensure timely and appropriate decisions are rendered within risk parameters established by the Bank. 2. Assist underwriters and branch personnel in underwriting and applying underwriting guidelines and Bank policies. 3. Underwrite and approve assigned loans and assist associates in decisions on more difficult and complex loans. 4. Monitor underwriting trends in assigned offices and provide appropriate feedback for improvements needed. 5. Work with Retail Site Leadership and Operations Leadership to develop processes and ensure accuracy and compliance. 6. Act as escalation point between Underwriting and Sales Departments to ensure the proper decision is being made in regards to underwriting guidelines and Perfect Client Experience (PCE) to the client. Required Skills and Competencies: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Bachelor's degree in a business-related field, or equivalent education and related training 2. Ten years of experience in Mortgage Lending; five years of supervisory experience 3. Strong verbal and written communication skills 4. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products 5. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight Desired Skills: 1. Federal Housing Authority (FHA) Direct Endorsement 2.
