Responsible for overall leadership of small business banking activities and the overall results of a team of Small Business Specialists (SBSs). Primary focus is directed towards enhancing small business sales and service efforts. Small Business is defined as up to $1MM in Total Business Exposure or $5MM in annual sales. Small Business Leaders managing seven or fewer small business specialists will be expected to also carry the responsibilities of an individual producer including a full portfolio and production goals.

Note: Level I – II will be differentiated by the number of associates managed and portfolio size. Level II should be reserved for Small Business Leaders with greater experience managing larger teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 1. Provide supervision, coaching and leadership of Small Business Specialists and Small Business Development Officers, as appropriate. 2. Responsible for instilling BB&T mission, vision and values within small business teams. 3. Ensure BB&T sales process is properly implemented and mastered through consistent communication, monitoring and evaluating results. 4. Promote strong relationships between Market Leaders and Small Business team members to improve regional Small Business results and the Small Business client experience. 5. Responsible for continuous improvements in sales effectiveness of the Small Business staff through sales leadership including coaching, counseling, feedback, reinforcement, and support of the Bank’s sales and credit cultures. Set clear expectations and hold associates accountable. 6. Responsible for ensuring the success of specific small business marketing strategies. 7. Responsible for continued leadership and reinforcement toward executing world standard client service quality by building stronger relationships with our clients and associates. 8. Responsible for staff with regards to employment, training, salary changes, promotions, transfers, terminations and career enhancement. 9. Service a small portfolio of small business relationships by delivering and executing on Perfect Client Experience Standards of Excellence. Reiterate the importance of the client’s relationship to the Bank to improve retention. 10. Support the team in initiating credit renewal process, including monitoring the Combined Future Maturities w/Gap Report and responding promptly to inquiries from Small Commercial. 11. Maintain strong communication and relationships with co-approvers in Small Commercial department. 12. Maintain a proven history of above average credit skills and portfolio management skills, including problem loan and collections activities, as demonstrated by superior past due and loan loss results. 13. Ensure team evaluates and extends credit terms in accordance with policy, recognizing when it is appropriate to seek higher counsel/authority. 14. Responsible for small business loan performance within the Region pertaining to growth, profitability and quality. 15. Ensure proper integration across lines of business (LOBs) impacting small business clients in Private Banking, Wealth Management, Insurance Services, and Payment Solutions to achieve necessary financial performance. Seven years of banking experience 3. Demonstrated ability to provide group leadership and to handle multiple priorities under time constraints 4. Possess a strong understanding of major technical aspects of small business underwriting, loan structure and deposits, and have a clear understanding of credit and finance 5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills 6. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products 7. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight Desired Skills: 1. Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field 2.
