Responsible to assist in the development and delivery of high quality analytics products and services while understanding the strategic implications of the marketplace, and make sound assumptions to find solutions to meet client objectives in collaboration with the Employee Benefits Account Management team.

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Coordinate the collection of relevant client data for review and analysis.

  • Develop / analyze reports for clients as needed.

  • Attend presentations with clients, client relationship teams, carriers and other third parties in support of Consulting Actuaries.

  • Evaluate complex employee benefit programs, diagnose potential problems and identify growth opportunities for products, services and solutions.

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with internal partners and decision-makers, coordinate the delivery of analytics services to the client and Account Management team with innovative benefit plan strategy, design and financial performance.

  • Be the claims analytics subject matter expert for assigned clients.

  • Understand the changing carrier product landscape, maintaining good carrier/vendor relationships.

  • Analyze demographic data to determine risk and appropriate strategic solutions.

  • Provide timely updates on industry trends and changes that impact plan design, strategy, compliance, communication, or administration.

  • Design presentations, exhibits and reports, and develop communication strategies supporting client goals and objectives.

  • Responsible for managing client projects that focus on employers’ health benefits strategies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, or other analytical field or equivalent education and related training.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in the field of health benefits consulting or similar.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively multi-task and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team environment.

  • Effective communication skills with strong active listening skills and the ability to ask thoughtful and probing questions to determine client needs.

  • Sound judgement and decision-making ability.

  • Strong problem-solving skills Exceptional organizational and multi-project management skills.

  • Attention to detail; quality-oriented.

  • Exceptional analytical and writing skills.

  • Strong presentation skills; able to effectively articulate and defend complex processes and methodology to internal and external clients.

  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills; proficiency in other computer applications, such as Tableau

  • Ability to travel, occasionally overnight.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an Actuarial Consulting practice

  • Advanced degree in Math or related field

  • Industry relevant licensing, professional credentials and continuing education

  • Able to work in an environment where a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
