Working under the direction of senior managers, assists in the selection, evaluation, and on-going monitoring of managers; developing risk and investment guidelines; completing special research/due diligence studies. Analyzes investment performance data &/or the elements of risk present in ‘private capital (equity/credit)’ &/or ‘alternative’ funds/ managers and liquid alternatives, perhaps with the assistance of other staff. May have assigned responsibility for specific asset classes and/or for monitoring/ongoing investment &/or operational due diligence for specific managers. Incumbent may be tasked to support/perform investment &/or operational due diligence activities leveraging qualitative & quantitative tools and approaches. Still refining their understanding of investment decision-making and manager selection. Minimum Requirements Knowledge, Education, Certification, Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, statistics, economics or related discipline/field of study. Strong command/knowledge of investment management, manager research/due diligence, traditional equity and/or fixed income analysis, as well as latest research methods and instruments. Role requires writing skill, an ability to produce cogent written analysis on a short timeline and fluency with standard quantitative/statistical methods and skills. Preferred:
Attainment of graduate degree in business administration, finance, accounting, statistics/math, economics or related discipline/field of study, e.g., MBA, MS Finance, etc. Attainment of one or more professional designations evidencing additional professional development beyond academics, e.g., CFA, CFP, CTFA, CAIA, etc. Skills and Abilities
Exceptional research, qualitative &/or quantitative analytical, reasoning, problem solving, interpersonal and communications (both written and verbal) skills. Proven ability to relate to and influence audiences through verbal and written communications at all levels of sophistication (novice to expert). Demonstrated success in translating complex analytical or technical information into understandable terms. Ability to digest technical, theoretical, and other relevant information independently. Preferred:
Advance statistical methods, strategic business acumen and evidence of a high degree of intellectual curiosity. Experience
Required: 10 years of related experience in manager research/due diligence or related investment field. Inter-disciplinary background in related industries, finance and economics may be considered in lieu of specific experience in manager research/due diligence.
Preferred: Established track record of sourcing managers/funds that have consistently outperformed their respective benchmarks or peer universes. Experience performing investment &/or operational due diligence/analysis through the application of qualitative &/or quantitative tools and techniques with an eye towards assessing and managing risk, identifying performance drivers, assessing the sustainability thereof and identifying and mitigating risks. Industry recognition as a leading thought leader in the field of manager research/due diligence.
