Please review the following job description:

Oversee and mentor junior underwriters, analysts and processors. Manage pipeline and address operational problems in underwriting applications for multifamily or healthcare financing applications.

Oversee and mentor junior underwriters, analysts and processors. Manage pipeline and address operational problems in underwriting applications for multifamily or healthcare financing applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Underwrite HUD MAP affordable and market rate transactions. Familiar with LIHTC’s, Ground Lease, Secondary Financing, Tax Abatements, etc.

  • Review underwriter narratives for accuracy and completeness

  • Participate in Loan Review Panels

  • Provide oversight to the staff and assist underwriters with issues regarding their transactions

  • Conduct Site Inspections

  • Attend conferences, webinars, and other industry events

  • Train staff on new HUD guidance

  • Assist with review and updating of the Quality Control Plan and Policies and Procedures Manual

  • Correspond with Borrowers, Originators, and HUD staff

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • College degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related technical field, and ten (10) years work experience multifamily or healthcare finance, commercial real estate development, or a comparable combination of education and experience.

  • Ten (10) years work experience in multifamily or healthcare finance, including five (5) years at the Senior Underwriter level which can substitute for some or all the educational requirement.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills using Excel or similar software.

  • Strong communications skills, both orally and written, using full Microsoft Office suite.

  • MAP and/or LEAN license from HUD.

  • Track multiple work streams and manage shifting priorities so as to meet deadlines and customer requirements.

  • Technical knowledge in Real Estate fundamentals, Market Analysis, Environmental, Appraisal, Architecture, Engineering and Cost, Mortgage Credit Analysis,

  • Property management principles and practice, Fair Housing requirements, Davis Bacon Wage requirements, and Real Estate Law.

  • Ability to organize and manage underwriting files, data and workload.

  • Ability to present credit recommendations to senior executives and clients on complex transactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fifteen (15) years of Multifamily and Healthcare underwriting experience.

  • Experience with Market Rate, Affordable Tax Credits, and Section 8 projects, Assisted Living Facilities, and Skilled Nursing Homes, and/or other special use commercial properties.

  • Experience with various financing sources, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD, and conventional financing.
