The Commercial Technology team leads the way for building differentiated Digital Experiences for Truist Clients. The Application Architect will deliver highly complex could centric micro-service solutions with significant system linkages, dependencies and associated risk. Leads and perform application architecture design and delivery supporting business strategy and roadmap.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work as an application architect on a given project, developing and maintaining application architecture throughout the project. Analysis of requirements, designing architectures & concepts, technical lead of a development team.
Designing and developing in AWS environments. Executing application modernization, refactoring, and migration approaches to transition workloads (services, databases) from On-Premises to AWS.
Participate in testing, maintenance, and escalated support for aligned solutions.
Partner with business, enterprise (data, security, cloud) architects to build solution architecture.
Participate in the design review process and support the overall Architecture Management process. Also, influence and drive change to the architecture processes, strategies and standards, as needed.
Recommending development standards, programming, procedures, and cloud architecture for scale, reuse. Incorporate nonfunctional capabilities into application designs i.e., DR, Fault Tolerance, High Availability, MTTR/MTTD, Application Availability, Recovery Point, avoid single points of failure.
Develop design patterns to socialize consistent solution approaches across diverse teams for like problem domains or IT challenges.
Ensure adherence to company and industry standards. Provides thought leadership and influence on the application of new technologies and approaches that benefits our business.
Mentor less experienced teammates to build technical expertise.
Keeps abreast of applications, technologies critical to Cloud native architecture and considers how new features and functionality may be used to solve challenges in technical, business areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and eight years of experience in development or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement best practices.
Understanding of multiple disciplines/processes related to the position.
Experience applying and utilizing enterprise architecture standards.
Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function.
Ability to plan and manage projects.
Ability to solve complex problems by applying best practices.
Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates.
Advanced communications skills, including ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information.
In an Agile environment: Knowledge of Agile development and release practices. Experience supporting a team with application architecture in an Agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree and ten+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Deep knowledge and experience with two or more of the following: Data structures, Algorithms, RESTful APIs, and software design with strong analytical and debugging skills.
Professional experience building distributed applications or services from the ground up and scaling at an enterprise level.
Experience with Spring/Spring Boot, Java, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), Microservice architectures, AWS (ECS, IAM, API Gateway, Networking), Open-Source tools and frameworks.
Strong understanding of SOA, Open API, Cloud Application Design patterns and frameworks (service discovery, circuit breaker, 12 factor, observability).
Experience using web servers, application containers, caching technologies, and APM tools.
Solid knowledge of relational database design and development (SQL, stored procedures, data modeling).
Experience with messaging systems (i.e., Kafka, MQ and JMS), DevOps, CICD tools (Git, Maven/Gradle).
Knowledge of CQRS, Event Sourcing, DDD, Networking, Security, modern authentication methods, and middleware platforms.
Experience performing architecture / design reviews, presenting technical concepts, solutions with non-technical personnel as well as senior leadership.
