Resolves complex technical issues for Truist's Network applications. Under general direction, function as primary consultant to the Software Support Department in the development and enhancement of enterprise software processes and infrastructure. Competent to work at the highest technical level on multiple phases of operating system software. Maintain a broad-based vision for software technology within the enterprise.

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  1. Act as support and subject matter expert for z/OS operating system and system components; provide direct technical support as needed in the planning, coordination, installation, implementation and testing of releases, upgrades, or changes to z/OS operating system, network, and component software.

  2. Primary support for assigned ISV products.

  3. Diagnose z/OS platform system and product issues and follow up with root cause analysis

  4. Analyze performance issues

  5. Support for technical consultation and inquiries from the other IT technical teams

  6. Support for new product installation and evaluation as needed

  7. Can act as the technical lead on internal team projects or participate on project teams that impact the z/OS platform

8.Develop, document, and execute business recovery plans.


Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in development or application support or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  2. In- depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement best practices.

  3. Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function.

  4. Ability to plan and manage projects.

  5. Ability to solve complex problems by applying best practices.

  6. Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates.

  7. Ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree and six years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  2. Banking or financial services experience.

  3. Excellent understanding of System z architecture and strong experience with IBM z/OS operating system.

  4. Experience with IBM and OEM utilities, catalog management, Rexx, RMF, SMF, SAS, MXG, HMC, JES2, DFSMS, Flashcopy

  5. Ability to work and cross-team with members across the Mainframe Engineering team

  6. On-call rotation / weekend work required

  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  8. Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills.

  9. The ability to follow a project through to completion, and/or to work as part of a larger team to complete the components of a complex project.

  10. Knowledge of Assembler, COBOL, CICS, Db2
