Please review the following job description:

Focus on post charge-off accounts negotiating approved settlements, payment arrangements, negotiating the voluntary turning in collateral, as well as skip tracing accounts, in an effort to update repossession agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  1. Analyze a client's ability and willingness to pay based on a phone conversation, then determine best course of action to maximize Sheffield's recovery possibilities.

  2. Consistently exceed individual performance metrics for collection efforts of assigned accounts based upon individual goals and objectives.

  3. Negotiate payment arrangements or settlements with clients to recover charged-off balances. Navigate and interpret various screens and relay information to clients accurately and professionally.

  4. Verify and document customer information (e.g. address, contact phone numbers, email).

  5. Document all collection efforts for each assigned account in accordance with established procedures, which may include using action and reaction codes, rescheduling feature, and/or "scratch pad" entries in the collection system.

  6. Utilize basic skip tracing tools to locate clients, when necessary.

  7. Ensure that all accounts and queues have been thoroughly worked according to standardized collection procedures.

  8. Ensure that appropriate letters are sent to debtors.

  9. Process account maintenance transactions according to established guidelines.

  10. Counsel dissatisfied customers.

  11. Assist management in developing charge-off collection strategies.

  12. Utilize blaster and dialer campaigns to concentrate on post charge-off collections.

  13. Work with management on strategy to move accounts to and from third-party agencies.

  14. Maintain a current knowledge of state collection laws.

  15. Work closely with the repossession area in an effort to create repossession campaigns on charged-off accounts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent

  2. Five years of collections experience

  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills

  4. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills

  5. Strong time management and organizational skills

  6. Ability to work in a team environment

  7. Ability to work a flexible schedule

  8. Strong understanding of all regulatory requirements surrounding collections

  9. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products
